You Can Feed Hungry Children in Southeast Dallas
Food insecurity is a heartbreaking reality in our community. For the second year in a row, Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap data shows that Texas leads the nation in hunger. Right here in Dallas, 1 in 5 children are food insecure—and we see this every day at SPSA. Too many of our students arrive at school hungry.
We partner with the North Texas Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program to provide weekend meals, but our children need nutritious food during the school week as well.
Our students qualify for the federally funded free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs, but our 1987 kitchen is inoperable and does not meet program requirements. It was originally designed to serve 150 students, yet our enrollment now exceeds 325 and continues to grow.
That’s why we launched the Feeding the Children Campaign—a project to renovate and expand our kitchen and dining facilities so we can serve healthy breakfasts and lunches every school day.
Join us in feeding His lambs. Your gift will provide hope, dignity, and nutritious meals for children in Southeast Dallas.
